7000APART – STAND TOGETHER

Here at the Send Me Your Ears studio today we’ve been listening to the latest single from Swedish/ American duo, 7000apart. Stand Together was released on November 25, 2022.

Written during the presidential election of 2020, Stand Together is a song about asking for help and being there for each other, especially during really difficult times. 7000apart are Amelie Eiding and Jon Kresin; a married Swedish/American Indie-pop duo that survived the uncertainty of a three-year, 7000 km apart, long-distance relationship by writing heartfelt pop songs together.

Stand Together begins with panned guitars and Amelie’s vocals soon join the mix. Her vocals are intimate, breathy and just a touch vulnerable. There’s a truly endearing quality in her voice and her head voice notes are effortless and thoroughly enjoyable to listen to.

Occasional harmonies come and go throughout the track. Sometimes the vocals are layered in unison and each time they are used, the two voices sit perfectly together, creating a warm and inviting soundscape.

Stand Together has plenty of rise and fall within it to maintain the listener’s interest. We like how the first chorus drops back to just simple strums on the guitar. Just when you think you have a feel for how the song is progressing, a Latin drum beat joins the mix and delights the listener – a great touch and one which brings some extra dimension to the song.

There are some interesting synth like incidental notes and a brief solo that gives the song a touch more of a modern pop-like feel. The chorus is catchy and inviting and will stay in your head for some time to come.

From a production perspective, we feel that a small cut around 220-260Hz would reduce some slightly dominant tones in the acoustic guitar during the intro. A cut around 200Hz in the lead vocal would reduce some muddy tones particularly noticeable on the lower register. To our ears, a small cut centred around 800Hz and a boost around 5kHz would balance the song out a bit more, increasing the definition and presence in the track.

7000apart have created a delightful indie-pop track with a thoroughly engaging and enchanting lead female vocal. Guaranteed to win them plenty more fans. We’re looking forward to hearing more.
