Here at the Send Me Your Ears studio today, we’ve been listening to the latest single from Austin’s, Atomic Bronco. Fly Away was released on February 24th 2023, and comes on the heels of his previous single, Foolish Games, which we reviewed earlier this year.
As with Foolish Games, Fly Away is a laid-back and relaxing soft rock/ singer-songwriter track with some nostalgic influences.
Fly Away starts with some warm, picked acoustic guitar that sets the scene and puts the listener in a relaxed state of mind. Drums and bass join the mix and the guitar-picking pattern continues as the vocals come in.
The vocals are layered and low and very understated. There is a calmness in them and as the lyrics come and go, the track just washes over you. There are definite 60s influences in the style here. Last time we reviewed Atomic Bronco, we drew comparisons to the Eagles, The Kinks and The Animals. Fans of this style of music will no doubt enjoy this latest track from Atomic Bronco.
We enjoyed the incidental electric guitar that fits in occasionally between lyric lines and the brief guitar solos have an authentic 60s tone with just a touch of drive on them.
Like Foolish Games, we feel that Fly Away is another perfect sync deal opportunity and could see this sat comfortably in the background of a TV show. We’d very strongly urge Atomic Bronco to seek out opportunities to help pick up more fans and reach a wider audience.
Atomic Bronco is a retro-inspired artist from Austin, Texas. It is the creation of producer and songwriter Kyle Nuss, Atomic Bronco blends an interesting mix of indie, alternative, garage rock, lo-fi and classic rock. Kyle writes, records and produces all of his music.
Ideas from our ears
A boost around 70Hz and a cut around 160Hz would balance out the low end a little, increasing the warmth and reducing some ‘boomy’ tones. A cut around 10kHz in the vocal track would control the sibilance a bit better too. As always, these are just some ideas from our ears
Atomic Bronco’s, Fly Away, is a retro-inspired indie soft rock/ singer-songwriter track that will delight fans of The Eagles, The Kinks, The Animals and similar.
