Here at the Send Me Your Ears studio today, we’ve been listening to the latest single from Into The Light. Bridge was released on May 26, 2023, and hotly follows the band’s debut single, Manuscript.

The band’s debut single, Manuscript, is an anthemic shoegaze/90s rock track which impressed us, so we were super-excited to hear what the follow up would sound like. Bridge is a far rockier, aggressive-sounding track, drawing influences from alt-rock and grunge – the kind of track that would sit well on a playlist alongside the likes of Alice In Chains.

Bridge fades in with guitar before launching almost immediately into a full band heavy rock sound with vocals. This is heavy grungey rock, and a highly aggressive and driven attitude-laden track.

Bridge has layered vocals and some gorgeously played chugging guitars that break the chugging frequently to throw in the odd classy riff or two.

As with their previous track, Manuscript, we found the musicianship of every member of the band to be quite outstanding. The timing and relationship between bass and drums is superb, and we just loved the toms work in the verses.

Just as you’re starting to feel that the onslaught of aggression is going to last for the entire track, Into The Light cleverly throw in a beautiful breakdown with just electric guitars. The bass and drums always teasing the listener that they will be returning soon, the breakdown builds and builds and then explodes into an epic instrumental section. Returning again to the crunching guitar riff and a final vocal line or two, the song has a stinger ending which we felt works perfectly for this style of rock.

Ideas from our ears

Because of the distant effects used on the vocal track, we felt that they are getting a little lost, particularly during the verses. Maybe a push on the fader or even some volume automation could help make the lyrics more audible. As always, these are just some ideas from our ears.

Final thoughts

Into The Light have pulled two superb tracks out of their hat so far. This new band, out of Rochester, New York, are set to win fans everywhere with Bridge, their latest metal/hardcore/grunge track. Recommended!
