JORDAN JONES – FLAWLESS

Edmonton (Canada) artist Jordan Jones was in our ears today with his latest single, Flawless, which was released today.
Flawless is Jordan’s third single, but a name that was new to us today. This is a highly commercial sounding, high quality, contemporary pop/ R&B that has a wide appeal.

Jordan’s smooth voice is the focus of the song, with a smoothness and confidence that just washes over you while you listen. Some great vocal techniques and a flawless (pardon the pun) performance. We loved the layered vocals that are added in places. They sit well in the mix and bolster Jordan’s voice to sound even smoother.

The chorus is catchy and we found ourselves nodding along by the second time it came around. The instrumentation in this track is electronic and modern. With a trance-like drum beat and various synth sounds you’re forced to focus in on the vocal line which Jordan delivers well.

This highly commercial track stands up well, and would sit comfortably on a play list with the likes of Bieber or Sheeran, and perhaps The Weeknd. A perfect length for commercial air play this is a track which, if funds permit, should be targeting commercial stations across Canada, as well as being highly likely to do well in Alberta and across the college radio stations as well.

From a production perspective, this is extremely well mixed and mastered. Our only thought would be that whilst this isn’t a very bass heavy song, there is quite a lot of information at 40Hz and below that most hi-fi systems can’t handle. Filtering this out will give a lot more head room to the rest of the track. Other than this tiny suggestion, all instruments are clear and given their own space. The vocals have a lovely delay/reverbs on them which sits well. The vocal lines are crystal clear and easy to listen to.

Flawless is an extremely current sounding track, with a lovely relaxed vibe which makes you think of Sunday mornings sleeping in with a loved one. It’s the perfect accompaniment to a lazy weekend!
