Mike Gordon – No Money, No Honey, Cheap Charlie.

Nice instrumentation on this 70s soul inspired track. Nice guitar tone and guitar soloing. Perfect for the genre.

There’s a lot of great musicianship in this track but I feel the vocals are dominating. That said, the vocalist has a solid soulful voice and I can see why the producer wanted it to dominate the song. It’s personal choice for sure.
It’s a good song although I must admit the chorus gets a little repetitive after a while. I would have liked to have heard some extra instrumentation, even just a tambourine, to change the feel of each chorus. Overall a solid song which almost feels like it could have been a theme song for a 1970s cop show!

I’m giving this track 3 ears out of 5.
