Here at the Send Me Your Ears studio today, we’ve been listening to the latest single from Richard Tyler Epperson. Another Day (A Wandering Mind Mix) is released today, August 1st, 2023.
Utah-based Epperson has captured the feelings of depression regret and the drive for positivity and resilience in this inward-thinking track, written, as all good songs are, during a time of personal turmoil.
Fans on Sting or Marillion will delight in this Progressive Pop / Art Rock track which takes the listener on a mind-bending journey that twists and turns and takes you from the depths of despair to moments of sheer euphoria.
Starting with some dreamy-sounding guitars and sound effects, the song sets the scene for a moving experience. Epperson’s vocals are clear and of high quality with some gorgeous bright reverbs. At the start, the backing instruments are panned to one side, giving plenty of dramatic emphasis when the full sound takes effect.
The rise and fall in this track create a truly dynamic soundscape, with plenty of different sections to listen to. At all times, we were thoroughly invested in this track, and it captured our attention powerfully and emotionally from the first notes on guitar to the final vocal note that echoes around your ears as it fades out.
We love the filtered kick drum sound, leaving the low end to be created by the bass lines, giving this a very thick, full and modern production sound. The occasional layered vocals make Epperson’s vocals stand out even more impressively. This is a truly creative and well-crafted track that delighted our ears.
Ideas from our ears
A cut around 195-200Hz on the snare track could help balance out the top and bottom, making it seem brighter and helping the snare wires sound seem more noticeable. The vocals get a little lost towards the end of the track when the fullness is at its peak. Some ‘ducking’ could help bring them forward a touch more. As always, these are just some ideas from our ears.

Richard Tyler Epperson has created a stunning track in his latest single, Another Day. This progressive, creative and inspirational song is an absolute pleasure to listen to, and we strongly recommend it for your playlist today.
