Here at the Send Me Your Ears studio today, we’ve been listening to the latest single from Wise Inspirations. Sweet Seduction was released on April 7th, 2023, and for fans of 20s-style female close harmonies, this song is an absolute must.
Wise Inspirations is the brainchild of Songwriter Eric Wise. But Eric is not a singer. Eric writes the lyrics and music. This song is sung by Christine Corless. She is great to work with and does an amazing job. With Roger Kimball on upright bass, Mike Kelly on guitar and Pete Koeplin on drums.
We always love to hear the inspiration behind a song and laughed out loud at this one. Sweet Seduction is a song about a love affair between a woman and… a box of succulent, gourmet chocolates.
When the song starts, the listener is treated to some nicely played acoustic rhythm and blues style guitar, with a simple drumbeat and classy double bass. Female vocals join the mix and fill your ears with sumptuous old-timey Andrews sisters close harmonies added in in just the right spots to really lift the track. We love the jazzy, relaxed attitude to timing in the solo female vocals, and whilst the instrumentation is superb, it is the harmonies that make this track a stand-out work.
There are some well-placed stops in this track that really help to maintain the listeners’ interest, with some glorious double bass or guitar fills. The instrumentation throughout the song is simple but effective: acoustic guitar, double bass and drums all the way through with no extra embellishments. The mark of a great song is one that would still work stripped down to just vocals and acoustic guitar and Sweet Seduction ticks this box easily.
We absolutely loved the tightness of the bass and guitar run at the end of this track – what a wonderfully simple way to show how tight the band are!

Ideas from our ears
A hi-pass at 40Hz would reduce some unnecessary sub-bass rumble from the double bass without reducing its impact. A couple of boosts at around 230Hz and 3.5kHz for increased warmth and definition respectively. A cut centred around 900Hz would balance out the mids a little too. The solo vocal could use a heavy compressor to help it cut through a little more on the quieter notes. The harmonies cut through perfectly! As always, these are just some ideas from our ears.
Final thoughts
Wise Inspiration has created a charming, witty, and thoroughly enjoyable track with his latest single, Sweet Seduction. Vocal harmonies to die for, and a song about chocolate. What’s not to love?!!
